Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. As a young girl of just five when she left for Oxfordshire and enrolled in her first Dragon School. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. When she was 6, she enrolled in the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes in acting, singing and dancing. From the age of 10, she took part and performed the main role in several Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) was the movie version from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was filmed for the very first time back in the year 1999. Emma was found by agents through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that, after auditioning for eight times, she and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's screen debut was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's debut in the year 2001. The movie beat all previous records in terms of opening day and weekend revenues, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. Film critics praised the film as well as the performance of three leading actors of the young generation. The well-known British publication The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable. Emma won the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in a feature Film. Emma was awarded five times for her part in the film.
